I’m getting a swedish massage tomorrow and i was wondering if there is anything done while you are lying on your back? I’m self conscious about my stomach and really don’t want it exposed.

It is your massage. You can say no or tell the massage therapist you don’t want it touched or exposed or worked on or whatever.

During Swedish massage, massage therapists use massage oils to facilitate smooth, gliding strokes called effleurage. Other classic Swedish massage moves include kneading, friction, stretching and (sometimes) tapping.
Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits.
Generally during Swedish massage you’re nude underneath a towel or sheet. The therapist uncovers only the part of the body he/she is working on, a technique called “draping”.
You can keep your underwear on during Swedish massage, and many newcomers do.
Feel free to state your preference for pressure during Swedish massage. It can range from light to firm. Swedish massage usually includes some deeper work on areas of specific muscle tension. If you want more intensive work and firmer pressure, get a deep tissue massage.
As far as exposing your belly, it is up to you, but a professional massage therapists has seen it all, so keep that in mind
Most Swedish massage is done with gentle, gliding strokes, and only the area being worked on would be uncovered. You most likely will start “face down” with the therapist working your back, arms, and then legs.
Most places do not include gluteal or abdominal massage during a “full body” massage unless you request it. But you can always let them know when you do your consult that you are not comfortable with them working this area. (And don’t feel self conscious! You massage therapist is not there to judge your body, we love to make people feel better, not worse!!!)
I really hope you have a great massage tomorrow, enjoy!
