Question by Gin&Colonic: What do you think of Massage Therapy?
I’m a Massage Therapy student and I’m finding that most people on here believe you can train to be a LMT in a month!!!! (I wish!) I’m in school right now learning all the benefits of massage (circulatory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, elimination, increased ROM, decreased pain, increase in white blood cell count in people with HIV, increased immunity, treatment for lots of diseases without the use of medication). I believe MT is incredibly undervalued and it’s my goal to educate the people about preventative healthcare utilizing exercise, healthy diet, MT, and chiropractic adjustments.
What do you think about massage therapy?
LOL I know it’s great! I get massages from my technique teacher and she’s amazing! And my labs and homework are much more interesting than most students I know. I just feel like the massage therapy field is either mocked or underappreciated. I know the history of “massage parlors” has put a bad name on MT and has taken the spotlight off of what benefits the different modalities have to offer. I’m just trying to gauge what most people think of it.

Question by HRmassage: Religious views on massage therapy?
I recently had a woman tell me that she can’t get a massage because the church wouldn’t approve. (She is Baptist.)
Why wouldn’t a religion approve of a beneficial, non-evasive technique to help someone deal with pain or stress?
(I mean legitimate massage, no some skanky massage parlour. I have been an LMT for 3 years…I believe in the benefits of massage, so please so childish comments.)
