Question by Lizzi: Exactly how exposed will i be during a swedish massage?
I just found out that my mother is giving me a gift certificate for a swedish massage for christmas. However, i have a history of cutting (i’m completely better now and have been for almost a year). I have some fairly deep, obvious scars on my thighs. How exposed do i have to be for this? What are the chances that they will be discovered? Or that my mother will find out?

Your thighs will be seen, but honestly the person who gives the massage probably will not even ask you about them, much less say anything to your mother. With a massage, they will cover your chest and rear area, you can choose to have bra and underwear on, or to not. That’s up to you. I wouldn’t worry about anything negative happening from it – and congrats on stopping!! :)

You will be exposed around there. And i suggest you put makeup and skin protects over them….the ones that stick on really good too. Or just tell your mother what happened if your reallly “all better” Good Luck!

Your breasts and privates always stay covered. By law in most states. Wear panties if you want, but skip the bra because they cannot do a good job on your back with all the straps in the way. You can ask for a female therapist.

If you are underage, in my state many places require a parent in the room to avoid legal problems. Make sure you find out about the rules about this where you are going.

your back, legs, arms are uncovered one at a time and re-covered.

You might just want to mention that you have some scars and that they are healed and you have no medical problems. The therapist is likely going to ask because some medical problems cannot receive massage. They will need to ask you to make sure you are healthy.
