Either way, I want to help her with her hand pain. Any good tips on hand massaging?

Just put on some lotion and rub (knead) with both your hands on her one from her wrist to the tips of her fingers. It feels great.
Get her a parafin bath at a place like bed bath and beyond
dip her hand in the way to warm up the joints and loosen up the muscles
wrap the hand in the included bags
wait 15 min
then take the bag and wax off
You can get some massage oil, bee’s wax, or really anything that your mom isn’t allergic too to rub on the hand.
You want to concentrate on stretching the muscles out in each finger and in the palm and wrist, as well as the forearm so that none of them become tight.
Now if she doesn’t have arthritis, if instead she has carpal tunnel…. Numbness in the first 3 digits of the hand… aka thumb through middle finger…
Ice it down after doing activities such as painting.
Antiinflammatories
Night splints to help keep the tunnels open
Have her see an orthopedic surgeon to determine what is going on first.
