Is getting a full body massage sanitary?
Posted: February 16th, 2010 | Author: admin | Filed under: massage | Tags: body, Full, getting, massage, sanitary | 7 Comments »I am not talking about the happy ending massages or anything. I just got a full body massage at massage envy and feel a little grossed out thinking about everyone else that girls hands touched that day.
Has anyone ever heard of warts or any other skin infections being spread through massages? is this a valid concern?

Lmfao. I’m pretty sure if they own a business they’re clean/sanitary..
I would go with this…as long as it is a reputible business I wouldn’t worry but…anything is possible when it comes to your health! You should be okay though, make sure the lady/guy washes up before performing the massage and you should be okay! Also, if your really worried ask about how they clean up!
I’ve never heard of that. Think about when you touch anything – a million people have touched it. I’m sure they feel that same way about touching strangers. They probably block it out and wash up a lot.
it’s a germ-a-phobe thing. don’t worry. just make sure it’s a reputable place. they should wash their hands and disinfect between each client. you can tell by the way the place looks. imagine how the masseuse feels touching all those people. eeewww.
You are completely safe. The sheets are changed out after each patient. And the therapist washes their hands. So no change on catching anything.
relax! it is not possible!
Yes, this is a valid concern:
I am a professional massage therapist and in school we extensively learn about pathologies of the human body…including skin infections and diseases. It is DEFINTELY something that we are on the look out for and avoid at all costs. Remember, for anything to be spread it would have to be on us first and I do not know a single person who would want any infectious (or non-infectious) disease on their body. To limit your concern and hence discomfort, always make sure you are being massaged by a professional massage therapist only…this way you can be sure that they have learned about different illnesses and such and make sure that you are going to an official massage place.
Professonal therapists and reputable spas will remove the old sheets, clean the table and face rest, place on new, clean sheets and a face rest cover. I know that my hands always get dry because I wash my hands before I work with a new client and immediately after I finish a massage. Believe me, our number one concern is the health of our clients and ourselves.
